when i took a test yesterday morning i got a positive result, but then took another later on in the afternoon and got a negative

It means the ';control'; works. Also if you took one in the morning you are more likely to have the hormone in your system rather than at night. I would take another on in the morning just to see. If the control line shows up is it definitely not a false result?
You can call the 800 number on the pregnancy test to verify the results. The control line must show up no matter if it was a false or positive pregnancy test for it to be valid. if the control line doesn't show it's not a good test and should be thrown out and a new one taken. Good Luck to you!
No, not necessarily. The control line is really showing whether there is enough moisture in the test. So if only a small amount of urine was used, the control line wouldn't show up.


But you can still get evaporation lines even if the control line does show up.
If the control line was there there shouldn't be anything wrong with the test, and the one in the morning is more accurate because your urine was more concentrated. So, take another one in the morning if you don't feel comfortable with the result.
Hi. As the test looks for the pregnancy hormone you cant get a false positive. As the second test was later in the day its possible the urine was diluted and there wasnt enough of the pregnancy hormone to show up. Congratulations.
If you had a positive result, it's very likely your pregnant.





However, take a third test, at a different time of day. Hormones are strange chemicals.

The control line means the test did work. Most likely your morning result was the most accurate b/c the hCg levels are higher. If I were you I would wait 3 days and take another test in the morning.

false negatives are much more common. I'm thinking you're pregnant. :)
you'll get a false negative before a false positive so i would do another test to be sure.
