Can you get a false positive on a pregnancy test if you're on birth control?

I've been on the Nuvaring for a year and a half but I've been having some symptoms that could either be pregnancy or just stress or something like that but I'm concerned that if I take a home pregnancy test it will come back positive because of the hormones in my birth control. Can you get a false positive on a pregnancy test if you're on birth control?
There are a few medical reasons that would produce a false positive pregnancy test, but birth control is not one of them. Pregnancy tests detect the pregnancy hormone HCG in your urine. Birth control hormones are different. If you are on birth control and take a pregnancy test that turns out positive, the most reasonable explanation is you are pregnant. No birth control is 100% effective. I have 4 children who are now 28, 26, 23, and 10. Our 10 year old was conceived very unexpectedly when I was taking birth control pills for 11 years. Can you get a false positive on a pregnancy test if you're on birth control?
Nope.

Birth control doesn't have the HCG hormone that your body produces when you are pregnant. If you get a positive test, then most likely you are pregnant. You'll have to make a doctor's appt to confirm it.
Nope! birth control is only estrogen and progesterian.. It cant fool a pregnancy test.. You need HCG in your system to test positive which is only in your blood after you have become pregnant and the egg has implanted inself in your uterus.
Nea... The birth control thing usually works 98 to 99%, not 100%.
Hormones that are in birth control are not the same as the hormone that your body produces when you are pregnant. So that is impossible that it would cause a false positive.
The hormones in your birthcontrol do not contain or cause your body to create HCG (the pregnancy hormone that a home pregnancy test will detect). Your birth control will not cause you to have a false positive.

Good luck!
No, it was cause a false positive. Good Luck!
